"BHUTANEESE PROFESS0R"
Photographic Society of Madras organised "ALL INDIA SALON OF PHOTOGRAPHY-2008" to commemorate 150th Anniversary Celebrations. In the Portrait(Colour) Section my creation titled Bhutaneese Professor has got 2nd Award. This picture is taken with D70 camera and 18-70 mm lens. Exposure was at IS0 200 with 1/320,f/9 at 35 mm.
"PLEASURE MOMENT"
In 7th International Loka Salon Lumen 2007, one of my pictures titled "Pleasure Moment" was awarded with FZS Silver Medal. The picture was taken in one of the deserts of Rajasthan state of India in 2007. Here, I used my only digital Camera D70 with 18-70 lens.
In 2006 Photo Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India organised 19th National Photo Contest and Exhibition on the subject"Happiness" in which his picture titled "Waterplay with Kash" was awarded with Honour Mention. The picture was taken in the rural side of West Bengal of India by Nikon D70 camera. This picture was awarded with ADNA ROTARY CLUB SPECIAL AWARD(Peace) In International Photographic Exhibition 2008Fiap2008/028)organised by ADNA ROTAARY CLUB, Turkey.

Beside the pictures titled "The Lonely Shepherd", "Barabbas" and "Waterplay with Kash" the following pictures were also exhibited.

Debidas used to participate in various International/National Salons. He has got more than 950 acceptances with many awards. But due to reason known to him he stopped participating in salons from 2000. Just after his retirement from service with request from his Master Shri Benu Sen, MFIAP, Hon.EFIAP, a leading photo artist of India and World and his followers specially youngers he decided to resume his participation in salons. He has started works with digital process and got his acceptance through his picture "NEW BEGINING" in AQUEDUCTE.06 Salon which has FIAP Recognition No.2006/12. The picture is in the sensitive mood of three boys in a little pond in the country side just before oncoming of Autumn.

In October 2007 an exhibition was organised in Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata. The photographs included in the exhibition were of 20X30" in size. Both Black & White and Colour pictures were there. The exhibition received appreciation from all levels of visitors. The picture titled "Destination Unknown" made in 2006 with the help of Nikon D70 was praised highly. This picture also won an Award in the Howrah Salon 2007 Patronised by FIAP and Recognised by PSA. It has got FIAP Silver Medal from 14th International Exhibition of Photography 2008 organised by The National Photographic Art Society of Sri Lanka.

BEAT OF DRUMS
Debidas did work with analogue process for 25 yrs before adopting digital techniques. Now he is doing mostly with digital. When needed he is exposing through film camera and later converts the image to digital one.
JOY OF FLUTE
Debidas is very much interested with the life pattern of common people. He did explore many places and took the pictures of the people engaged in their different activities.
Debidas has been honored for a variety of his images all over the world. Winner of the Award of Riga,Spain the only Indian in 1996 for his creation"The Lonely Shephard". Debidas has been honored with the EFIAP,FFIP, APSA, ARPS, ABPS, Hon FCOS and AIIPC. In 2006,he is honoured with EFIAP by FIAP and FFIP by Federation of Indian Photography.
THE LONELY SHEPHERD
Traveling the diverse countrysides and cities of the world, Debidas enjoys capturing images of landscapes and people engaged in the rich traditions of festivals, ceremonies and everyday life.
The picture below reflects a religious activity which was being performed on the Holly River Ganga(Hooghly). This offerings are performed for the well being of one's ancestors. The picture is titled "TARPAN".

RETROSPECTION
Debidas was born in 1944 in Santipur, a holy place 150 Km north of Kolkata, and started taking pictures throughout India. He retired from RESERVE BANK OF INDIA, the Central Bank of India on 31st May 2004 as an Officer. He is a Commerce Graduate from Calcutta University. He also completed his photography diploma in the year 1978 from Photographic Association of Dum Dum(PAD). The picture titled "Restrospection" was his first awarded picture. He received the BEST PORTRAIT award from Madras Salon in 1979.
